AI reflections
Your words first. Another view when you want it.
AI can help you revisit what you wrote. Treat its reflections as suggestions to consider alongside your own memory and judgment.
A starting point for today
Open Journal and choose “Need a starting point?” to request a writing prompt. A prompt offers a question to write from; you can follow it, change it, or ignore it. Requesting a new prompt uses up to 1 AI credit.
A shorter view of an entry
Save an entry before asking for a daily summary. The summary condenses that entry into a shorter reflection. Read it alongside your original writing: a summary can omit a detail you consider important. Short summaries use up to 1 credit per request.
Look across your days with My Story
Choose a time period and, if useful, a theme. Select “Reflect on my story” to look for recurring subjects, changes in tone, and activities you have mentioned. A new reflection uses up to 5 credits.
Each reflection covers up to 30 recent entries in the selected period. If you wrote more, it is a view of that selection rather than every entry you have ever saved. Changing a filter requires another reflection request to apply it.
Your interpretation matters
AI can misunderstand irony, context, and the meaning of a particular day. A mood label is an interpretation of the text, not a measurement of how you feel. Keep what helps and leave what does not. You can return to the original entries to check a reflection against your words.
What is shared, and when?
When you request a reflection, the relevant journal text is sent to Google’s AI service. See the privacy information for how entries, account data, and device drafts are handled.
We do not attach your account name, sign-in email, user ID or payment details to AI requests. Your writing is not automatically anonymised: names and other personal details in the text or title can still be included. Writing and saving without requesting AI does not send an entry to the AI service.
How credits reset
Free accounts receive 15 AI credits each day. Monthly and lifetime accounts receive 25. Daily credits reset at midnight UTC, unused daily credits do not roll over, and cached results are free. Failed generations return the credits used for that attempt.
